Satan attacks us in accusation of our complete & total unworthiness because of our sin.
Interesting, isn’t it, to think that when we feel like “we’re no good”, will ‘never amount to anything for God’, or are tempted to despair because of our ‘complete wretchedness’ that makes us think ‘it is no use to even try….’
That this likely doesn’t come from God, but from the enemy?!
God says, “There is therefore now NO CONDEMNATION to those who are in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1).
Christ has already taken care of our lack of righteousness by giving us His.
In contrast, The Holy Spirit convicts the believer of specific, individual sin issues in our lives; He tenderly, gently (okay, and often very forcefully for some of us stubborn-types) points us to areas of specific transgression that hinder our fellowship with and testimony for God. He spotlights the ugliness we were blind to.
This is his role as He resides in us.
Yet, He doesn’t leave us there.
He points us to God’s forgiveness when we repent and confess. (1 John 1:9)
And then His Spirit bears witness that it need not be our master, nor need we be enslaved by it. (Rom. 6:14)
But offers hope to overcome it --we’ve been ‘set free’! (Rom 6:18)
So, the next time you feel overwhelmed by your sin, identify the messenger.
And deal with it accordingly.
Thanks Mrs. Pratt, I'm sure you know how this truth is encouraging :)
