The Gospel Transforms Everything

On a recent Sunday morning, preaching from Colossians 3, our pastor emphasized the overarching effect of the gospel’s transforming work in our lives and how it ought to comprehensively evidence itself in every relationship we have.

In broken relationships, there is supernatural grace available to us which provides hope and the ability to love unconditionally.
In healthy relationships, there is ongoing dependence on God to love selflessly and loyally, day in & day out, through the mundane and the unnoticed.

In difficult relationships, there is the awareness of the greater call in it to serve God even when the other person is unfair, unkind, disappointing or disloyal.

In relationships of authority, there is the humble and meek disposition of servant leadership which seeks to serve the ‘lesser’, even through her position of ‘greater’

In relationships of submission, there is a conscious knowledge that compliance ultimately is in deference to God, it is His eyes who see us & whom we seek to please, and we do not give compliance based on the worthiness of the person in charge.

The Cross of Christ, as it works out its transforming power in our hearts, changes everything.

I invite and urge you to listen to this excellent, winsomely powerful and convicting challenge by Dan Miller on Col. 3:18 - 4:1. Hear it at http://www.edenbaptist.org/?q=content/lordship-christ-human-relationships-col-318-41
